Jerrys Departure
Our Club President was not at the meeting this month due to a recent job change. He has accepted a new job in Colorado and has already moved the family out West.
Andy read an e-mail from Jerry to members. It is posted on the Message Forum (on the website) in the June meeting minutes if anyone is interested in reading it.
Jerry had heartfelt feelings in regards to leaving. He wanted to attend this meeting to be able to express his gratitude to the members personally, but everything moved faster than anticipated.
THANK YOU JERRY for all of your hard work and dedication. You will be greatly missed!!!!!!!
Vice President Position Open
Since Jerrys departure, Andy King has resumed the President position. That in turn leaves the Vice President position open to any member that would be interested in taking on that position. We decided at the June meeting that nominations and voting will take place during the July 11th meeting. It is important for us to fill this position, so please spread the word and come to the next meeting.
VASA Insurance
All of the Clubs are still without landowner insurance. We were hoping to have the issue resolved for June 1st, but that obviously has not happened. We should be receiving an answer now by June 15th.
When we finally receive the go ahead with landowner insurance, we will really need member support to get the trails going. We want to put a big push on forming new trails and getting in and clearing the existing ones.
We will let everyone know when the insurance issue is straightened out as soon as we know.
Thank you for being so patient!!!!
ATV Definition Changed
The two bills in the Legislature did not make it through this session. The House and Senate passed them, but the Governor has not yet. The Bill that describes what machines needed (directionals, inspection, etc.) was changed. It is written as this: Sec. 217a 23 V.S.A. 3501(5) is amended to read (5) All-terrain vehicle or ATV means any nonhighway recreational vehicle, except snowmobiles, when used for cross-country travel on trails or on any one of the following or a combination thereof: land, water, snow, ice, marsh, swampland and natural terrain. An all-terrain vehicle operated on a public highway shall be considered a motor vehicle only for the purposes of those offenses listed in subdivision 2502(a)(5) of this title and as provided in section 1201 of this title.
July Meeting Changed
Since the next meeting will fall on the 4th of July, we have decided to change the meeting to July 11th, 7:00pm at the Abbey Restaurant in Sheldon. Please make a note of the change.
Franklin County Field Days
August 2, 2003 the North Country ATV Association will be sponsoring an ATV Pull. We will need volunteers to help at the event. We will need people to set up pulls and ATVs to actually do pulling. Anyone interested in helping out with this event, let us know. We will discuss this more in depth at the July meeting.
Shriners
Gerald Herron-933-2500 asked if anyone was interested in volunteering for a Shriners 4 Wheeler Parade Unit to please contact him.
Brochures
It was mentioned at last months meeting about having some brochures available to go to the towns with, to let them know about the Club. Well, your suggestion was granted. Enclosed with the newsletter will be a copy of the brochure I have made up. Please take a look at it, use it show others if they are interested in joining, or take to your Town Selectboard meetings.
If you would like to have additional copies, I will bring extras to the meetings or send an e-mail to briclair@together.net
